July 2018: Former North Carolina congressman Mike McIntyre of North Carolina member firm Poyner Spruill has been named the recipient of the Chief Justice I. Beverly Lake Jr. Public Service Award, recognizing a North Carolina lawyer who has rendered a lifetime of exemplary public service. The award was conferred by the North Carolina Bar Association at its annual convention June 21st in Wilmington, North Carolina. In presenting the award, North Carolina Bar Association immediate past president Kearns Davis said Mr. McIntyre has “inspired citizens, students, and his fellow attorneys through his professional, community, civic and personal activities, as well as through his exemplary public service. Throughout his career, Congressman McIntyre has relentlessly advocated for a better understanding of our legal system and has made significant contributions to and on behalf of the legal profession locally, statewide and nationally, and on behalf of North Carolina schools and communities.” As senior advisor and director of government relations at Poyner Spruill, Mr. McIntyre focuses his practice on government work on the local, state and national levels, as well as business, real estate, agribusiness, environmental, military, sports and entertainment law.
